You could get Ams tickets at Bruno’s
The Sports Page was a publication that
existed in the 1970’s. The Ams & Vulcans were featured several times in these
papers too.
The Ams & Vulcans had very active booster clubs
The WFL recognized a player of the week each
week in ’74. George Mira won it twice and Alfred Jenkins won it once.

There were never any WFL trading cards
produced. So I made some to commemorate the WFL’s 25th anniversary in
1999. There was a Birmingham set with 9 players (left) and a league set with 9
players (right). I hope to do more sets in the future.
Whatever happened to the jerseys without
stripes?
The game program for the World Bowl was tiny.
Only 18 pages and the starting lineups were mimeographed insert sheets.
In
1975, when the team returned as the Vulcans, they received travel bags. They
must have looked very familiar to those who were with the Americans in 1974. The
Vulcans logo was screened over the old Americans logo, and the bags were
re-issued.
